It drips from the evaporator coil into a designated pan at the bottom of the unit.
When the unit fails to properly drain this condensation, the unit leaks.
In fact, you may be able to do so without removing the unit from the window.

Clean the Filter
Start bycleaning the air filteron your window air conditioner.
To clean the filter, remove it and vacuum the dust off.
Stuck-on debris may require scrubbing with soapy water.
Before attempting to service a window AC unit in anyway, unplug the unit from the wall.
Use a level to ensure the unit is properly installed.
Inspect the drain to ensure the condensate has a clear path.
This will give you full access to the internal components.
The sheet metal used on AC units can be very sharp.
Always wear thick gloves when working around sheet metal.
Look for obvious damage on the outside of the unit.
If you don’t see any, remove the outer shell of the unit for a better look.
However, expensive window AC units may have a replacement pan available.
Instead, a new window AC unit would be the best fix.
Before firing your unit up for the first time each year,clean your window air conditionerthoroughly.
Inspect the drains to ensure they are free and clear of debris.
Vinegar can break up debris and unclog a condensate drain line.
For stubborn clogs, blowing air through the hose using an air compressor can free it up.
