Why Is Wattage Important?

Using a bulb with too high of wattage will cause the fixture and its wiring to overheat.

Shut off the light and turn off the power at the breaker or fuse.

What Wattage Do You Need?

If a fixture has two or more light bulbs, ensure their combined wattage does not exceed the maximum.

All light bulb types have a wattage rating and lumen level printed just above the base of the bulb.

But keep in mind, the wattage ratings of these bulb types can be confusing at first glance.

The LED equivalent of a 60-watt bulb is about 8 to 10 watts.
