By switching to Aux Heat, you activate the auxiliary heating system and turn off the primary heating system.
However, when the EM Heat mode is activated, the heat pump is essentially turned off.
If you accidentally turned on EM Heat, just switch it off.
The heat pump will automatically activate the secondary heating if necessary.
How Much Does Emergency Heat Cost?
As noted above, this simply isn’t true.
This also means that you will be responsible for paying about 2 to 3 times more on your bill.
It’s then important to call an HVAC technician as soon as possible to deal with the problem.
A flood anytime is costly and time-consuming to clean up.
A flood in the middle of winter without reliable heat in the home is a disaster.
EM heat is an emergency setting as opposed to a comfort setting.
There’s no set temperature at which you should turn it on.
Instead, it provides backup heat when there’s a problem with your system to stay comfortable.
A heat pump running continuously through the night is not necessarily problematic.
It may mean it’s working just as it should, especially in a colder winter.
This could be all through the night on an especially cold night.
The emergency or auxiliary heating can be set to be automatically activated.
In very cold weather, your heat pump may have trouble keeping up with the rapidly dropping temperature.
