A sofa bed has a mattress that is generally hidden and can be accessed by removing the seat cushions.

Types of Futons

A Western-style futon will be larger than its Japanese counterpart with dimensions of standard mattresses and a slatted frame.

Due to their size and thickness, they don’t fold as compactly.

Note that futons aren’t generally known for theircomfort or durability, though.

“It will flatten over time, and its not the easiest to keep clean and fresh.”
