But, these pillows proved supportive and plush for every sleeping position and style.

Its available in both firm and soft densities, and we tested and loved the firm fluff option.

This was uncommon amongst the down pillows we tested since different people prefer varying levels of loft and firmness.

On the outside is a 233-thread-count cotton shell.

The pillows construction is thick and dense, reminiscent of a high-quality, hotel-style pillow.

We love this pillows sink-in comfort and that it still maintains enough support for a properly positioned head.

No matter our sleeping position, we never experienced any pain or discomfort throughout our six months of testing.

For cleaning, the manufacturer recommends spot cleaning or professional dry cleaningneither of which is ideal for busy households.

Luckily, it comes with an included pillow protector that zips over the pillow.

The protector is made from 300-thread-count cotton and is machine-washable.

But Quinces Premium Down Pillow is a value-packed option offering a performance that rivals other more expensive down pillows.

It comes in soft, medium, and firm support levels, and we tested the medium-firm option.

A side sleeper and a back sleeper both tested this pillow, and both of them were huge fans.

It has a resilient construction, maintaining its shape nicely.

This pillow flaunts a 650 fill power with white down thats certified by RDS.

The shell is a 400-thread-count cotton sateen that feels buttery-soft.

The edges are also double-stitched, giving it a durable construction.

It has a full, overstuffed feel, but never felt uncomfortably high.

This option is also nicely lofty with a 650 fill power of white goose down.

The 350-thread-count cotton shell keeps all of the filling secure, too.

When it comes to washing the pillow at home, we appreciate that it can be machine-washed and tumble-dried.

After six months of testing, we still use this pillow regularly and absolutely love it.

Other than the slight loss of loss, it still looks as good as new.

It is filled with down clusters, creating the softest option of the three available down support levels.

Meanwhile, a 100 percent cotton sateen shell prevents the down from poking through.

In our opinion, the firm option is also the best down pillow for side sleeping.

Unsurprisingly, if you are someone seeking maximal neck support, this option wont be best suited for you.

However, this pillow isnt machine washable like other choices on our list.

The outer layers are 600 fill power white goose down for softness.

Its decently stuffed but has a resilient feel, offering a cloud-like construction.

Throughout the testing period, the filling never clumped up or got lumpy.

Crafted with a durable cambric cotton shell, this pillow is conveniently machine-washable.

It came out of the washer and dryer looking great, with no changes in its appearance of loft.

We found it was a bit too plush for side sleepers, who may require a firmer pillow.

As for stomach sleepers, they may prefer a bit less loft.

The center is filled with 80 percent feathers and 20 percent down for support toward the core.

Then, the outer layers are filled with pure down for extra softness.

We liked its luxurious design, and the organic cotton shell feels very soft.

The pillow felt comfortable but lost its loft rather quickly.

Specifically, people who sleep on their stomachs will benefit from lower densities, generally.

Back sleepers typically need a medium-density pillow.

Down, Feathers, or Both?

Joshua Roland, while down-heavy pillows generally provide more support.

Just note that since recycled down is harder to trace, RDS only applies to new down.

It ensures details like no force feeding, no live-plucking, and traceability, amongst others.

Down pillows naturally lose loft (and the associated fluffiness and sink-in softness) over time.

As a result, the pillows tend to flatten out, which we did not appreciate.
