What Are PFAS?

PureDrop RTW5 5 Stage RO Water System 5-stage Mechanical Filtration Reverse Osmosis Filtration System

The Spruce

PFAS are artificial chemicals that wind up in most water supplies and pose potential health risks.

The EPA is working on creating a set of standards for PFAS.

We found ourselves drinking a lot more water after installing this system, the results were just that good.

There arent any filter replacement alerts with this system, so we just marked it on the calendar.

It also comes with a full set of replacement filters, which adds even more value.

This is a slightly lower-priced system, but you wouldnt know that from the water it produces.

If thats too wasteful for you, our overall best has a better ratio of 1:1 pure to drain.

Reverse osmosis systems remove trace minerals (including beneficial minerals) and lower the pH of your water.

According to the EPA, drinking water should have a pH of 6.5 to 8.5.

It even shows how many plastic bottles youve saved using the system.

Thats twice as efficient as ouroverall bestrecommendation, but this system is also about twice the price.

It doesnt have a remineralization stage, but you’re able to add anoptional filterfor that.

Its efficient, too, with the best pure-to-drain ratio of any reverse osmosis system we tested.

The system comes with two post-filter carbon attachments that you could insert into the pitchers if you want.

It wastes less water than our other under-counter recommendations as well.

For countertop models, we assembled the systems, followed the setup instructions, and noted any difficulties.

We also noted how well each system fit under our sink or on our counter.

We also evaluated the durability of each system.

Ouroverall best recommendationincludes five filtration stages (three pre- and one post-filtration).

How many stages do you need?

Choose a system based on the quality of your water.

This is typically provided in gallons per day (gpd).

It also filters fast (about 40 seconds for an 8-ounce glass).

Some systems have cartridges that pop in and out easily, while others have more involved filter replacement procedures.

Other systems are a little bit more complicated, like ouroverall bestrecommendation.

Filter replacement also adds an annual upkeep cost, so its important to budget accordingly.

Ourbest countertop pickhasnt been independently certified, but the manufacturer states that its currently going through the process.
