However, the quick-mount hinge trays and mounting bolts must still be removed from the toilet rim by hand.

Hold the Mounting Nut

With one hand, hold the plastic mounting nut in place.

The nut is underneath the toilet rim in the back.

The new toilet seat should be installed on a clean, flat rim.

How to Replace a Toilet Seat

Toilet seats typically have quick-mount hinges for easier cleaning.

Mounting trays are attached to the toilet rim.

When the hinge covers are flipped up or removed, the toilet seat slides forward and can be removed.

The mounting trays should be placed so their rubber feet will drop a line to the toilet bowl rim.

Position the Toilet Seat on the Rim

Flip up or remove the hinge covers on the hinges.

Place the toilet seat on the toilet rim.

Center the seat so that all sides equally overlap the toilet rim.

Insert the Bolts

From the top, insert the plastic bolts through the holes in the hinges.

Some toilet hinges may have square washers that first need to be placed in the hinges.

With your thumb, press the bolts down and firmly in place.

From below the toilet rim, screw on a mounting nut by hand.

Advance the nut as high as possible.

Tighten the mounting nut by turning the screwdriver clockwise.

exit the Hinge Covers

Flip down or add the hinge covers.

The covers must snap firmly in place.

Otherwise, the toilet seat will slide off of the toilet.
