What Is a Stripped Bolt?
Wear safety glasses and waterproof gloves.
Start by opening a pair of needle-nosed locking pliers.

Tighten the adjustment screw until the pliers are gripping firmly, then close them.
Penetrating oil can be applied to a heated bolt, but do not use heat and penetrating oil simultaneously.
Apply penetrating oil to the bolt, then place the socket over the bolt head.

Tap the socket down with a hammer, then fit the socket wrench handle onto the extractor socket.
Turn counterclockwise until the socket grips into the metal and the bolt can be removed.
Start by attaching a metal-cutting tip to a rotary cutting tool like a Dremel.

Hold the tool to the side, then groove the top of the bolt head.
Turn until the bolt emerges and comes fully out.
Place the splitter over the nut, ensuring the splitter’s diameter is wider than the nut’s.

Take your time and reverse the direction of rotation back and forth as you start to feel tension.
The built-up rust should dislodge, allowing you to remove the bolt entirely.
Grab the bolt head sideways, lock the jaws, and turn counterclockwise.

There are a few methods you’re free to give a shot to remove a badly stripped bolt.
Removing a stripped bolt from a car may be different due to the tight spaces.
Use a socket extension to help you reach into small spaces.
