Alternatively, you’re free to use a fine-tooth handsaw to cut through the plank.

It’s also helpful to wear knee pads, as you’ll be kneeling for much of this project.

Prepare the Floor

High spots should be sanded to create a flush surface for the new floor.

You aim to make the vinyl plank flooring’s surface flat and smooth.

Or use tin snips to cut the desired shapes.

Alternatively, you’re able to manually nail the trim.

Use a nail set to recess the nail heads below the trim’s surface.

Floating, interlocking vinyl planks are recommended over adhesive or glue-down planks, as they are easier for beginners.

Some vinyl plank flooring comes with a pad pre-attached underneath.

You do not need to add another layer if your flooring has a pad.
