Here’s what you better know to grow lavender from seeds successfully.
Lavender seeds may also be planted outside in fall, if your winters are not too cold and wet.

If your sunny planting spot is cold, you may need a heating pad or grow lights.
Cold stratificationof your lavender seeds is recommended before you plant them.
This means leaving them in a cold environment for a few weeks.
Refrigerate them for three to six weeks before planting.
verify they’re getting at least six hours of direct sunlight or light fromgrow lightsper day.
Do not add fertilizer, and avoid fertilizing your lavender plants in general.
Once your lavender seedlings are at least two inches tall, gently transfer them to larger pots.
Use a basic potting mix with perlite.
Keep them lightly watered using the mister, and be careful not to overwater them.
Use thehardening off methodto give them a good start.
You may also transplant the seedlings into pots: terracotta pots are ideal.
Prepare the soil surface by lightly scratching with a fork tool.
If you have heavy wet or clay soil, add a layer of potting mix.
Place seeds about two inches apart (later, plants can be thinned to 18 inches apart).
Pat them lightly into the soil and mist with water.
This can only work if you don’t have very cold, wet winters.
You’ll be more likely to succeed seeding lavender indoors rather than direct sowing.
This method is sometimes called direct sowing.
It is easier to grow lavender from cuttings.
It’s faster and more likely to work.
