Soak in Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda
Hydrogen peroxidecan also be used to remove the smell.

Finish with a rinse with plain water trying not to leave the carpet or upholstery excessively wet.
Air-Dry and Vacuum
Allow the area to air-dry away from direct heat.
Vacuum carpet well when it is dry to lift any crushed fibers.
Laundry detergent can help neutralize the smell of skunk on clothing.
