Check the Mounting Bolts
Often, the leak isn’t brought on by a broken part.
The mounting bolts attaching your disposal to the bottom of the kitchen sink may have just loosened over time.
If you find anything, the entire disposal will need to be replaced.

Push the top flange back into position, wipe away excess putty, then reattach the bottom flange.
Start by removing the slip nuts holding the pipe in place.
If you find any loose gaskets or cracks, replace the gasket or the P-trap.

Reconnect the drains, plug the cord back in, and switch the disposal’s circuit breaker back on.
Turn the water back on, and execute the disposal to test it for leaks.
If your garbage disposal leaks from the top or sides, it’s worth repairing.
In many homes, the dishwasher drains its wastewater into the garbage disposal.
If the garbage disposal leaks from the bottom, avoid using the dishwasher until the problem is resolved.
