However, another important reason for deadheading is to maintain a beautiful aesthetic.

How Is Deadheading Geraniums Different Than Pruning?

Both deadheading and pruning can help shape your geraniums and keep them healthy and full.

Although geraniums are typically grown as annuals, they are technically perennials in USDA zones 10 and 11.

Pruning your geraniums helps them store up energy through the winter months in preparation for springtime.

While it is important to remove wilted flowers, you don’t want to leave your plant looking sparse.

You’ll know they’re ready when the blooms start to wilt and turn brown.

Only deadhead the flowers that are beginning to fade and leave the rest.
