Below, we’ve outlined how to build the three different types of drawers.
A thin piece of wood (usually plywood) is held within the dado.
This requires a thicker piece of wood for the screws to run into.

The thicker wood and recessed construction make this a moderately strong drawer.
However, the thicker wood also adds to the weight of the drawer.
While incredibly easy to do, this is the weakest jot down of drawer construction.
Plus, they’re plenty strong and applicable for many different uses.
This ensures the groove lines up.
There are two ways to cut the dado.
One utilizes a table saw, while the other utilizes a router table.
Table Saw Method:Set the height of the blade to approximately 3/8 inch.
Set the fence to 1/2 inch inch.
Rip the entire length of the board, then increase the fence distance by 1/16 inch.
Measure and Cut Your Boards
Use the information above to determine your drawer dimensions.
Cut your front, back, and side pieces to length using a miter saw or a circular saw.
Check to confirm the drawer box has the proper dimensions.
Assemble the Drawer
Apply athin, even layer of wood glueto each side of each joint.
Then, screw a 1-1/2-inch wood screw into each pilot hole and remove the clamps.
