But not all rug pads are equal in their quality and performance.

Even at just 1/4-inch thick, it made a noticeable difference underneath our feet.

For longer, smoother cuts, we recommend using a heavy-duty scissor or box cutter.

Despite some minor flaws, we love this pad’s effectiveness.

Considering its excellent grip and comfort, we think its a value-packed pick, too.

This rug pad is the thickest option on our list, at 7/16 inches thick.

Because its made from memory foam, the rug pad feels exceptionally plush and comfortable.

Best of all, that cushioning doesn’t come at the expense of its grip and stability.

This rug pad is the thinnest option on this list at just 1/8th of an inch.

Another one of our favorite things about this rug pad is how easy it is to use and trim.

The pad’s felt material offers ample cushioning but is a bit denser and less plush than foam.

Additionally, we liked how easy it was to adjust, reposition, and trim the rug pad.

However, even with the pad, the vacuum was still occasionally able to pull the rug vertically.

If your rug tends to wrinkle or curl at the edges, these rug pads are a good solution.

If your rug is irregularly shaped, this can save lots of time.

In testing, we liked their user-friendly design and found them easy to reposition.

We also like that it feels exceptionally comfortable, despite not being very thick.

Its also made with a moisture-proof backing, which can helpprevent any pet accidents from reaching your floor underneath.

However, we dont think this is a flaw as much as an indication of its more heavy-duty construction.

We appreciated that the rug pad had lines to help make straight cutting easier, too.

According to the manufacturer, this rug pad is compatible with all indoor surfaces.

While it wont provide any additional cushioning underfoot, it was very grippy.

The rug pad also helped reduce the curling on one corner of our rug.

We simply trimmed a small strip of the rug pad to place under the curling area.

In our testing, we loved its sturdiness, and we found the grippy rubber eliminated movement.

Vacuuming also proved effortless.

We also walked on each rug pad, considering the cushioning, support, and stability of them.

We also tried cutting and trimming each rug pad, noting how easy the process was.

Well note that most of our team members couldnt identify an indentation on the rug pads after this test.

Finally, we assessed the rug pads value by comparing the retail price with their overall quality.

The right rug pad can even help extend your rugs life by reducing shifting and folds, says DeLuca.

Foam and felt pads have a thicker feel that works best for rugs that are already situated underneath furniture.

Your rug’s pile will affect the pop in of rug pad will be suitable underneath.

Next, consider the space you intend to use your rug pad in.

Finally, if you’re looking for a rug pad that provides extra cushioning, thickness matters.

A lot of this decision will depend on personal preference, though.

Luckily, all of the options on this list are compatible with hard floors.
