The Spruce
The individual tools need to be compact and usable, and the multi-tool itself needs a comfortable grip.
It isnt exactly the same as having awhole toolboxon your belt, but its the next best thing.
The tools all performed well during our tests, and nothing popped open or broke during our drop test.

Instead, Leatherman sells aset of 21 double-ended bitsthat work with this and some other Leatherman tools.
The Wave+ comes with a belt case, and thats our preferred way to carry it.
It actually got stuck, and we had to use another multi-tool to pry it back open.

We also like how comfortable this tool feels in the hand.
We were immediately impressed with the functionality of this multi-tool when we tested it.
It performed well in our drop test though.
Since this multi-tool is quite small and lightweight, the tool selection is limited to the essentials.
Even with that minor inconvenience, we think this is an ideal option for a daily carry multitool.
This multi-tool is a slight departure from Leathermans standard designs.
If you need either of those, or a longer file, the Leatherman Wave+ is a good pick.
One Blade or Two?
Multi-tools typically include at least one blade, but some have two or more.
