Many pros share the same pet peeve: When people automatically assume they don’t have a green thumb.

“Nurseries must pre-order trees and shrubs well in advance of selling them,” he says.

“Annuals and perennials have a much shorter window in general.”

Doing so will result in less frustration for you and the plant expert helping you.

And you’ll likely be able to get exactly what you want for your garden.

Smaller shops also have unique challenges that larger corporations don’t always face.

Quality is imperative to local shops because business depends on it.

This, plus the fact that you’re supporting a local business, makes it worth the price.
