Digitize
Next comes digitizing.
While this step is optional, many prefer to digitize family photos for easier storage.
Digital files are also easier to manage and display.
That said, theres no denying that digitizing is time-consuming.
There are a few things that can help, though.
First, dont make a run at tackle digitizing all the photos in one sessionthat will be too overwhelming.
Second, you dont need a scanner for every photo.
Hazelton recommends using a scanner for images you want a high-resolution copy of.
Organizing by month and year is a good place to start.
If you have specific dates, thats even better.
Use file names to record the year, month, and date to help you organize.
Store Physical Copies in a Designated Spot
Digitizing photos doesnt necessarily mean eliminating all the physical copies.
Some physical photos will likely be too precious to destroy.
