Peace liliesare a favorite of indoor gardeners because they’re low maintenance.

When grown in optimal conditions a healthy peace lily will have large, glossy green leaves.

Watering incorrectly or multiple other challenges can cause peace lily leaves to turn yellow, wilt, anddevelop browning.

Too Much Water

If you spot yellow leaves the plant is likely overwatered.

Too much water can cause a peace lily to develop root rot.

Let the plant dry out completely, then get back on a watering schedule.

If you see minimalroot rot, remove the mushy roots and repot the peace lily.

Aging

Older peace lilies may suffer from yellowing leaves more often than younger plants.

Remove the yellow leaves when you spot new growth coming in behind them.

Lack of Humidity

Like othertropical plants, peace lilies need humidity to thrive.

If the plant does not experience enough humidity, its leaves wilt and turn yellow.

Keep your peace lily in a humid bathroom or use a humidifier once a day.

Try asmall amount of liquid fertilizerfirst to see if that addresses the plant’s discoloration issues.

Too much sun can burn your peace lily’s leaves, turning them brown and yellow.

Move your peace lily to a space that gets indirect light to keep it happy.

Poor Water Quality

Tap water is often full of minerals like chlorine and fluoride.

A peace lily’s leaves can absorb the minerals and turn yellow.

Extreme Temperatures

Tropical, heat-loving peace lilies don’t like temperatures below 65 degrees.

These plants thrive in temperatures between 65 and 85 degrees.

If they get too cold, their leaves will turn yellow.

Usingneem oilon your peace lily should keep pests away in the future.

Once the plant generates new growth, the old, wilted leaves can be removed.

A peace lily’s soil should always be moist but not overwatered.

It’s not likely that yellow leaves will turn back to green because they’ve lost too much chlorophyll.

However, once the plant has regained health, it will grow new leaves during the next season.

In the meantime, remove the yellow leaves to direct the plant’s energy toward the healthy areas.
